Privacy Policy

Tyche Ventures LLC ("we," "our," or "us") built the HomeKeeper app (the "App") as a free application with optional premium features. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.

1. Age Requirement

The App is intended for use by individuals who are at least 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction). The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers.

All data you enter in the App — including property details, addresses, asset information, maintenance tasks, log entries, photos, and documents — is stored locally on your device only. We have no access to this data. We do not have servers that receive, store, or process your information.

3. Property and Address Data

The App allows you to store property addresses and related information. This data is:

Stored only on your device
Never transmitted to us or any third party
Never used for advertising, tracking, or profiling
Fully under your control and can be deleted at any time

If you choose to use map preview features, your device may communicate with Apple's Maps service per Apple's own privacy policy. We do not receive or store any location data from this interaction.

4. Photos and Documents

The App allows you to attach photos, receipts, manuals, warranties, and other documents to your properties and assets. All attachments are:

Stored locally on your device's file system
Never uploaded to any server or cloud service by the App
Deleted when you remove them from the App or uninstall the App

5. Export and Backup

The App provides an export/backup feature that creates a local archive file (.homekeeper format) on your device. This file contains your data and is shared only through methods you explicitly choose (e.g., AirDrop, email). We never access, receive, or store your backup files.

You are solely responsible for maintaining backup copies of your data. We strongly recommend regular exports to protect against data loss. Tyche Ventures LLC is not responsible for any loss of data due to device failure, app deletion, iOS updates, or any other cause.

6. In-App Purchases

The App offers optional premium subscriptions through Apple's App Store. Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We do not collect or have access to your payment information, billing address, or Apple ID. Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Notifications

The App may request permission to send local notifications for task reminders and warranty expiration alerts. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and do not involve any communication with our servers. You can manage notification permissions in your device's Settings at any time.

8. Third-Party Services

While the App does not transmit your data to our servers, certain features may interact with third-party services provided by Apple:

Apple Maps: If you use the map preview feature for your properties, your device may communicate with Apple's Maps service to display map imagery. This interaction is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive, store, or have access to any data exchanged during this interaction.
Apple App Store: Subscription purchases and management are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. All payment processing, billing, and subscription management are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
CPSC SaferProducts.gov API: The App includes a recall checking feature that connects to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's publicly available SaferProducts.gov API. When you use this feature, product names and manufacturer information from your saved assets are sent to this government API to check for matching recalls. No personal information — such as your name, address, email, Apple ID, or device identifiers — is shared with the CPSC. Only the product and manufacturer data you have entered for your assets is transmitted. Recall match results returned by the API are stored locally on your device and are never sent to our servers or any other third party. These are third-party services over which we have no control regarding data handling. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies for details on how they process information.

9. Data Storage and Security

All App data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and the device file system. Your data is protected by:

Your device's passcode/biometric security (Face ID, Touch ID)
Apple's built-in data encryption (Data Protection)
The App does not create any user accounts or cloud backups

If you delete the App, all associated data is permanently removed from your device.

10. Data Breach Notification

Because all data is stored locally on your device and we do not operate servers or databases that store user information, the risk of a data breach from our systems is effectively zero. In the unlikely event that a vulnerability in the App is discovered that could compromise locally stored data, we will promptly disclose the issue via an App update and on our website, and provide guidance on how to protect your information.

11. Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising

We do not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. We do not track your usage, behavior, location, or any other activity within the App. We do not display advertisements. We do not use cookies. We do not create user profiles.

12. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share any user data with third parties. No data leaves your device through the App. We will never sell your data, and we have never sold user data.

13. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full and complete control:

Access: All your data is visible within the App at all times
Correction: You can edit any information at any time
Deletion: You can delete individual records or uninstall the App to remove all data permanently
Portability: You can export your data using the built-in backup feature

For California residents: Under the CCPA, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. Since we collect no personal information and sell no data, these rights are inherently satisfied.

For EU/EEA residents: Under the GDPR, you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Since all data is local to your device and we process no personal data, these rights are inherently satisfied.

14. Data Retention

Since all App data is stored locally on your device, data retention is entirely within your control. You decide what data to keep, modify, or delete at any time through the App.

If you delete the App from your device, all associated data is permanently and irreversibly removed. There is no server-side retention of your data because no data ever leaves your device through the App. We do not maintain any backups, copies, or records of your data on any server or cloud service.

Once data is deleted — whether by removing individual records within the App or by uninstalling the App — it cannot be recovered by us or any third party. You are solely responsible for exporting and backing up any data you wish to preserve before deletion.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
