Frequently asked questions

The instructions below reflect the current Your House, Clearly build.

How do I add a property?

On the Home tab, tap the add button in the top-right corner. Enter a property name and address, then optionally add a photo. The new property appears on the Home screen.

How do I add an appliance or home system?

Open a property, go to Assets, and tap the add button. Choose a common asset category or add a custom asset. You can record the manufacturer, model, serial number, purchase information, warranty dates, notes, photos, and related documents.

How do maintenance tasks work?

Choose from more than 100 built-in maintenance templates or create a custom task. Tasks can be one-time or recurring. If you allow notifications, Your House, Clearly schedules reminders locally on your device.

How do I complete a task?

Open an active task and choose quick completion or completion with details. You can also swipe right on a task to reveal completion actions. Completing a recurring task schedules its next occurrence.

Can I attach warranties, receipts, manuals, and inspections?

Yes. Your House, Clearly can attach selected photos, document scans, and imported PDFs to a property or asset. The files are kept in the app on your device unless you choose to export or share them.

How do I back up and restore my records?

Go to More → Backup & Restore → Export. Your House, Clearly creates a .yourhouseclearly archive containing properties, assets, tasks, maintenance logs, document metadata, and included property or document files. It can also import compatible legacy .placeworthy archives created under the former Placeworthy working name, .dwelllore archives created under the former DwellLore name, and older .homerecall archives created under the former HomeRecall name. Saved recall matches and recall-check history are not included. Backup archives are not encrypted by Your House, Clearly, so store or share them only through a destination you trust. Use Import on the same screen to restore.

What is included for free?

The free version includes 1 property, up to 5 assets, built-in maintenance templates, tasks, document attachments, possible CPSC recall checks, PDF maintenance reports, and export and restore tools. Premium removes the property and asset limits.

Is Premium a recurring charge?

No. Premium is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. The App Store displays the final price for your region before you confirm it.

How do I restore my Premium purchase?

Go to More → Upgrade to Premium, then choose Restore Purchases. Your House, Clearly asks Apple to restore an eligible one-time Premium purchase associated with your Apple ID.

Where is my data stored?

Your House, Clearly is local-first: your property records, photos, documents, tasks, and saved results are stored in the app on your device, and no Your House, Clearly account is required. CPSC recall checks send asset brand and model search terms to SaferProducts.gov, whose service may retain technical request logs and use aggregate analytics under its policy; Your House, Clearly does not store or resend CPSC cookies. Optional map previews use Apple Maps, and the Premium purchase uses Apple's StoreKit. Backups are not paywalled. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How does CPSC recall checking work?

Your House, Clearly uses the manufacturer and, when available, model you entered to search the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's data for recalls issued from January 1, 2000 onward. An asset needs a manufacturer or brand to be checked, and adding a model number can improve matching. Results are possible matches, not a guarantee. Always verify at cpsc.gov/Recalls and with the manufacturer.

Do I need an internet connection?

Most organizing features work without an internet connection. Internet access is needed for CPSC recall checks, optional Apple Maps previews, making or restoring the Premium purchase, and opening external links.
