These terms cover CartKind's personal rule comparisons, third-party product data, local records, optional Premium subscription, and important safety limits.

CartKind does not determine food or allergy safety

CartKind is an informational shopping reference, not a medical device and not medical, nutritional, allergy, intolerance, or food-safety advice. Aligned, Review, and Not aligned compare available ingredient text with your configured rules. They do not establish that a product is safe. Always read the physical package label and consult a qualified professional for individual medical or dietary needs.

1. Acceptance and age

By downloading, installing, or using CartKind (the “App”), you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App. You must be at least 18 years old or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction to agree to these Terms. A parent or guardian should review and approve any supervised use by a minor.

2. Description of the service

CartKind scans or accepts product barcodes, retrieves available product information, compares available ingredient text with user-defined rules, and presents an Aligned, Review, or Not aligned result. You can also enter ingredients manually. Optional Premium features include Insights, custom ingredient triggers, custom categories, and custom rules applied to new evaluations while Premium access is active.

Results reflect only the rules you configured and the source or ingredient text available at the time. CartKind does not diagnose an allergy or intolerance, verify cross-contact, or certify that a product is suitable or safe.

3. Third-party product data

CartKind queries Open Food Facts directly first. Only after Open Food Facts reports no matching product may CartKind send the barcode to a Tyche Ventures relay hosted on Cloudflare Workers, which queries USDA FoodData Central. A result identifies its source when available.

Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central are independent sources. Tyche Ventures does not guarantee that either catalog or any result is complete, accurate, current, or available. Product formulas and labels can change. You are responsible for reading and verifying the physical product label before making a purchase, consumption, allergy, or medical decision.

4. Product-data licenses and attribution

Open Food Facts data is © Open Food Facts contributors. Its database is available under the Open Database License 1.0 (ODbL), and individual database contents are available under the Database Contents License 1.0 (DbCL). CartKind 1.0.2 does not request or display Open Food Facts product images. See Open Food Facts' terms of use and reuse.

5. Local records, network requests, and privacy

CartKind does not require an account. Rules, custom settings, saved history, product records, and preferences are generally stored in the App's local container. Apple-managed device or computer backups may contain copies, depending on your settings.

Product lookup necessarily sends a barcode and ordinary request metadata to Open Food Facts. Only after an Open Food Facts catalog miss may the barcode go to the Tyche Ventures/Cloudflare USDA relay. If Cloudflare Workers logging is enabled, limited invocation logs may be retained for up to seven days. Camera frames are processed on-device for barcode recognition and are not stored, recorded, or transmitted by CartKind. 6. Premium subscriptions

CartKind offers optional auto-renewing Premium subscriptions through Apple's App Store and StoreKit.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account after purchase confirmation.
  • A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Apple handles billing, renewal, cancellation, payment details, and restore activity.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings under Apple ID → Subscriptions.
  • Prices may vary by region and are displayed by Apple before purchase.

Tyche Ventures does not receive your full payment-card details or Apple ID password. Any refund request is subject to Apple's policies and processes.

7. License and acceptable use

Subject to these Terms, Tyche Ventures grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use CartKind on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by Apple's applicable Usage Rules.

You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, redistribute, sell, sublicense, or attempt to extract CartKind's source code except where applicable law expressly permits it. You may not use the App unlawfully or interfere with the App, product-data sources, relay, or related services.

If you materially breach these Terms, your license may end. Because CartKind does not use a Tyche account, these Terms do not claim that Tyche can remotely delete your local records. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination remain in effect.

CartKind may provide source-reference links that open outside the App only when you choose them. External destinations are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. Tyche Ventures does not control their content, availability, security, or data practices.

9. Your responsibilities

  • Configure and review your own ingredient rules and preferences.
  • Do not rely solely on CartKind for allergy, intolerance, medical, nutritional, or food-safety decisions.
  • Verify ingredients, allergen statements, warnings, and other relevant information on the physical product label every time.
  • Use appropriate device security and manage any copies in Apple-managed backups.

10. Intellectual property

CartKind's original software, design, branding, text, and other original materials are owned by Tyche Ventures LLC and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party product data remains subject to the source licenses and attribution described above.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CartKind is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App, product information, source data, relay, StoreKit availability, or other functionality will always be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, accurate, current, or suitable for a particular purpose.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tyche Ventures LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to CartKind, including decisions based on product information, failure to verify a physical label, or loss of local data.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Rights and remedies that applicable consumer law provides remain available.

13. Changes to the App or these Terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and may update these Terms as the App, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The revised Terms will appear on this page with an updated effective date. If you do not agree to revised Terms, stop using the App.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent applicable law requires otherwise.
