Start a game

Open Play → New game. Choose a game or Custom game, then select a group or add today’s players. The Group menu also offers Create group; groups are optional. Most competitive setups support 2–6 players; each guide shows its limit. Blackjack sessions support 1–6 people, without adding the dealer as a player.

Choose from 61 scoring guides, including Blackjack, Poker hand results and Yard games. Guides are grouped into card, board, dice, domino, party and yard games, alphabetically within each category. Search also recognizes familiar alternative names. Guides describe specific scoring variants, not complete game rules or publisher-endorsed products. Custom is available for other games and house rules.

Enter, correct and finish scores

Follow the chosen guide’s entry method. For round or turn points, calculate that entry’s points—not the running total. A Final score only guide instead takes the completed game’s total once. Final-winner and finishing-place guides record the result after you apply the physical game’s rules and tiebreaks; they do not store a numerical breakdown. Enter 0 when appropriate; a blank score is still missing. Negative point scores are supported.

Save the entry to update the sheet. Tap an earlier entry to correct it; reopen scoring first if the game is finished. Follow your guide’s finish instructions and tap Finish yourself. Reaching a target does not end play automatically. Specialized boards, category scorecards, card counting and cash settlement are not provided.

Poker and Blackjack

Poker — Hand results records the resolved winner or joint winners of one ordinary high-hand, common-pot hand. Include everyone dealt into that hand, even if they folded. It is separate from Poker tournament finishing places. Side pots, high/low games, multi-board results, chips, buy-ins and payouts are not tracked; winning more hands does not mean making a profit.

Blackjack — Results vs dealer records cumulative hands won, lost and pushed for each person. Open Record session totals, enter the counts and Save. Update session totals replaces the earlier totals; it does not add another copy. A split win and loss is one win plus one loss, not a push. Use 0 explicitly; a blank count is missing. Each count can be 0–9,999. Finish requires at least one resolved hand. Reopen to correct a finished session. These independent results remain in history and can be shared, but do not affect competitive rankings. No dealer simulation, stakes, payouts, side bets or hand-by-hand timeline are included.

Keep your regular players together

People can have a local photo or emoji. The optional Contacts picker copies only the selected name. Groups remember regular players, and a game night can contain several games. Rankings use outright wins, then win rate; tied first places and draws are shown separately. Different games’ points are never added together. Matching names are never assumed to belong to the same person.

Save a setup for next time

Custom game offers Save setup for next time. Leave it on to save the name, scoring method and optional photo or emoji when you start the match. A dice image is used if you do not choose artwork. Players, groups and scores are never attached to the reusable game. Turn it off for a one-off match.

Next time, choose it under Saved setups in New game, then choose the group or players for that occasion. Edit saved setups lets you maintain a setup’s name, scoring and artwork without changing past results.

Practice and results

• Practice without saving: Explore an example appears until first use. After opening it, find it again under Settings → Explore the practice example. Practice never counts as a real game or leaderboard result.
• Overall standings: finished competitive games count even without a group. Independent Blackjack sessions stay in history, outside rankings. New players are saved in People. Choose an existing player on the next game to accumulate their record. Older unlinked players appear separately by game rather than being merged by name.
• Groups after play: Create group with these players keeps the people from a finished game together for next time. It does not rewrite the original game’s group history. Groups can have a photo or emoji. A preferred saved game is optional.

For a tied placement, use competition places: 1st, 1st, 3rd. For win/loss, select a winner, joint winners, or a draw for everyone. Save the result, then Finish to include it in standings. Reopen scoring before changing a finished result.

Gold, silver and bronze mark places 1, 2 and 3 for players with an outright win. Equal records receive the same medal: two joint firsts are followed by third, not second. Zero-win records have no medal. Filters let you narrow the standings to a group or saved game, then return to overall results.

Share and preserve your records

Review invitation or result text before choosing a sharing app and recipients. Nothing is sent automatically. Sharing results does not create an editable backup, synchronize devices or track replies.

Records stay on this device. Keep the app installed: there is no TallyKeeps cloud recovery or in-app archive backup. Current limits are 100 games, 100 rounds per game, 200 people, 50 groups, 100 saved setups and 100 game nights. The combined 4 MiB storage limit can be reached sooner, particularly with profile photos.

If saving or opening records fails, preserve your draft and note the exact message. Do not uninstall as a first troubleshooting step. Contact support before changing existing records.

Remove records you no longer need

In Settings → Manage saved records, choose a record type, check the record’s details, then confirm Delete. Deleting a game removes its scores and result from standings, but leaves people, groups and setups intact. An empty game night can then be deleted separately. People, groups and setups still used by other records are protected. Deletions cannot be undone; messages already shared are unchanged.

Purchase and compatibility

The planned public release is a one-time paid app with no subscription, in-app purchase or free trial. Apple displays the price for your region before purchase. See current availability. TallyKeeps requires iOS/iPadOS 17 or later. Buying the app does not remove its stated storage limits.
