Kids Meal Planner

Privacy Policy

What stays on your device, when an action connects to another service, and what happens to files you choose to export or share.

  • Last updated: August 21, 2026
  • Local-first planning data
  • No Tyche account required

Local by default

Profiles, meal plans, pantry items, shopping lists, notes, and selected photos stay in the app on your device by default.

Connections are specific

Barcode lookup, StoreKit, and optional Amazon links connect only when you use those features.

Exports create copies

Apple-managed backups and files you export or share can retain information outside the app.

No safety decision

The app does not determine allergy, nutrition, medical, age-suitability, cross-contact, or food safety.

Tyche Ventures LLC ("Tyche Ventures," "we," "our," or "us") provides the Kids Meal Planner iOS app (the "App"). This policy explains the App's current data practices for version 1.0.2.

1. Intended audience

The App is intended for adult parents, guardians, and caregivers. It is not directed to children. An adult may choose to enter limited information about a child for household meal planning.

2. Information stored in the App

Information you choose to enter—such as child profile details, selected photos, dietary or contact notes, meal plans, pantry items, and shopping-list content—is stored in the App's local container on your device. We do not operate a Kids Meal Planner account system, cloud database, or cloud-sync service that receives this planning content.

Device security, shared-device access, and operating-system behavior are outside the App's direct control. Protect your device and enter only information that is useful for planning.

3. Backups, deletion, exports, and shared files

Apple-managed device or computer backup settings may include App data. Kids Meal Planner does not operate its own cloud backup or remote recovery service.

  • You can edit or delete individual records using available App controls.
  • Uninstalling the App removes its local app container from that device, subject to copies that may remain in device or computer backups.
  • PDFs, images, messages, emails, printouts, or other files you choose to export or share are controlled by their destination and recipient after they leave the App.
  • Because we do not hold a remote copy of local planning data, Tyche Ventures generally cannot recover it for you.

4. Camera and photo access

With your permission, the App can use the camera to scan a barcode. It can also use camera or photo-library access when you choose an image for a profile or pantry record. Selected images are stored with local App data and are not uploaded to Tyche Ventures.

Barcode scanning processes the camera view to obtain a code. Barcode lookup sends the decoded barcode—not a camera frame, child profile, or meal plan—to Open Food Facts as described below. Camera and photo permissions can be changed in iOS Settings.

5. Open Food Facts barcode lookup

When you explicitly use packaged-food barcode lookup, the App sends the decoded barcode to Open Food Facts. As with an ordinary internet request, Open Food Facts also receives standard network metadata such as an IP address, request time, request headers, and technical request details.

Open Food Facts describes IP and log information as personal data and may retain or use request logs for security, technical analysis, usage statistics, and product-popularity measurement under its Privacy Policy. We do not represent that those logs are anonymous or unlinked. Tyche Ventures does not receive the barcode request or Open Food Facts response through a developer-operated relay in the current App.

The App can display available product names, brands, categories, or images returned by Open Food Facts. The service is a third-party, community-contributed database. Records can be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. The physical package label—not the App or database—is the source of truth for ingredients, allergens, nutrition, and food-safety information.

Open Food Facts database content is available under the Open Database License 1.0 (ODbL); individual database contents use the Database Contents License 1.0 (DbCL); product images are available under CC BY-SA 3.0. Product images may also contain third-party trademarks or packaging artwork. Review the Open Food Facts terms of use.

6. Apple subscriptions and StoreKit

Apple StoreKit supplies subscription products and processes purchases, billing, renewal, cancellation, and purchase restoration. Apple may provide the App with transaction and entitlement information needed to determine Premium access. Tyche Ventures does not receive your full payment-card details or Apple Account password. Apple handles its information under Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Optional Amazon affiliate links

The App may offer optional product-search links that open Amazon outside Kids Meal Planner. A link can include search terms and a Tyche Ventures affiliate tag. Amazon receives the request and ordinary network or device information and handles it under Amazon's Privacy Notice. Amazon may provide affiliate reporting to us. As an Amazon Associate, Tyche Ventures LLC earns from qualifying purchases.

8. Analytics, tracking, and advertising

The current App does not include Tyche Ventures analytics, behavioral-advertising, or cross-app tracking SDKs. Optional Amazon affiliate links are external commercial links, not behavioral ads inside the App. Apple, Open Food Facts, Amazon, and destinations you choose may process information under their own policies.

9. Information you choose to send us

If you email support, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you send. Do not include child names, photos, contact details, medical information, or dietary information unless it is necessary to resolve the issue. We use support communications to respond and troubleshoot and retain them only as reasonably needed for those purposes and legal obligations.

10. Security

We use iOS security capabilities and design the App to avoid a Tyche account or backend for planning content. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for device access controls, backups, recipient choices, and the information you enter or share.

11. Allergy, nutrition, and food-safety limits

Kids Meal Planner is an organizational tool, not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Dietary notes, sample templates, and barcode results are not verified for allergens, nutritional completeness, age suitability, cross-contact, medical suitability, or food safety. Always check ingredients and package labels and consult a qualified healthcare professional for individual needs.

12. Your choices and requests

Local App data can be viewed, edited, or deleted through App and device controls. Because we do not operate an account or backend for that content, we generally cannot access, delete, or recover it remotely. For questions about support communications or Tyche Ventures data practices, contact us below. Rights vary by location, and we will respond as applicable.

13. Policy changes

We may update this policy if App behavior, third-party services, or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when appropriate.
